Donation vs. Combined Tax Credit
Donation credits are non-refundable and generally limited to 75% of net income in a given year, with the estate able to claim more in the year of death. Donating publicly-traded securities directly, rather than cash from their sale, also eliminates the capital gains tax on the appreciation, not modeled here.
