RRSP Home Buyers' Plan Withdrawal & Repayment Calculator

Missing a repayment doesn't create a debt to CRA. It creates taxable income instead, added to that year's return whether or not the cash is actually there.

How To Use This Calculator

Enter the withdrawal amount and how many years ago it happened.

Up to $60,000 can come out of an RRSP tax-free for a first home, repaid over 15 years starting the second calendar year after the withdrawal for anything withdrawn from 2026 onward. A missed minimum payment doesn't extend the schedule, it just becomes income in the year it was missed.

Your Inputs

Repayments are made by contributing to an RRSP and designating that contribution as an HBP repayment on Schedule 7, they don't generate a new tax deduction since they're paying back a deduction already claimed.

The withdrawal must go toward a qualifying home purchased or built by October 1 of the year following the withdrawal, and repayment contributions must sit in the RRSP at least 90 days before being used toward a subsequent HBP withdrawal, a separate rule from the repayment schedule itself.
